Almost Time...

It's official. We're headed to the hospital tomorrow to check in and get ready to meet our baby boy on Wednesday! We're so excited! We had a good doctor's appointment this morning. She was encouraged that my cervix seemed to be thinning on its own and even said that we could check in the hospital tonight and deliver tomorrow................obviously we chickened out on that one! haha! We decided to stick with the original plan and we're both glad we did. It was nice sitting at the table for dinner tonight and we both look forward to one more peaceful night in our own bed!

Since I didn't work today, I met my parents for lunch and a short walk around the mall. Here are a few photos...probably some of the last photos of me pregnant!

Our trunk is all packed with everything we need for the hospital! It looks like we're going to be gone for a month, but we want to make sure we've got everything we need...especially since we'll be killing some major time there tomorrow night.

Outside of the doctor and lunch, most of my day was spent relaxing on the couch. Such a great day!

Not sure when the next post will be, but chances are it will contain pictures of GRIFFIN! Stay tuned...

Happy Due Date

So, today is the day we've been waiting for...February 5, 2010...Griffin's due date! BUT...there hasn't even been one iota of an inkling of a FAKE contraction! haha...

I mean, I knew the likelihood of him being born ON his due date was very small, but a girl (and guy, because Chad is beside himself with excitement) can hope, right?!

Just to update everyone in case you haven't heard yet - the doctors want to induce on the 10th should Griffin wait that long to make an entrance. That means that our next week would look like this:

  • Monday - go back to the doctor for another appointment and some monitoring (whatever that means...me or the baby? Not sure).

  • Tuesday - check into the hospital sometime that evening. They will then give me something to get my cervix nice and ready (ewww).

  • Wednesday - that morning they will start the Pitocin to actually induce labor. Should everything go "according to plan" we should have a baby somewhere in the neighborhood of 4 and 8 pm!

Now, of course that is all assuming that he doesn't come on his own before then (please, please, please) and that everything goes "according to plan."

Either way, I think Chad and I feel good about everything. We would LOVE IT if Griffin decided to come on his own, but we're all about kicking him out on the 10th if he doesn't! Sorry buddy...we just can't wait to meet you!

Until then, I thought I'd post this picture again. I find myself going back to this blog post often just to stare at this sweet face!

Nursery: Part 4 - We're ready!

We've finally got the nursery finished. We may add a few things on the walls here and there, but for the most part, I think it turned out exactly like we wanted it! Enjoy the photos...

I made these letters myself! I'm pretty proud...not just for doing the letters, but actually getting them finished before Griffin's 1st birthday. I'm really good at starting projects, but not so great at finishing them. I'm pretty happy with how they turned out. Might re-think the polka-dot ribbon next time (kind of takes away from the letters themselves), but overall I think they're cute.

I may try to make a living out of making letters....if you're interested, I'll give you a good deal!
I'll keep my prices low until I make it big...

Speaking of making a business out of craftiness...I have to give my friend JANA MAY a huge shout out for these next two pictures. She makes these adorable bag tags and kindly made me two of them. This one is already on Griffin's diaper bag. She will make them to order however you'd like....colors, monograms, address (great for a luggage tag), etc...

She also painted this AWESOME picture for Griffin's room. I wish the photo did it justice. There is so much detail in the painting that you can't really appreciate it unless you see it in person. I told her the colors of my room and mentioned that I liked owls and this is what her creative mind came up with! How special to have a custom piece of art made just for our litte one!

Jana - please post a link to your Etsy site in my comments. If anyone wants or needs anything crafty done for them, Jana is your girl! Her work is excellent and she's glad to do custom pieces according to your wants and needs.

Now that the nursery is finished, we're literally just waiting for our little man. A little anxious? Sure. Nervous? Yes. But Chad and I both can't wait to see what God has in store for us! My mom just sent me this great verse she came across and thought it was perfect for where we are right now...

"Wait for the Lord; Be strong and take heart, and wait for the Lord." Psalms 27:14

There are a lot of people who can't wait to meet you Griffin!...but we will wait....

Settle for a Slow Down...

This pregnancy has FLOWN by...I mean WOW....super fast. But now, as we are so close to Griffin's arrival I can feel it, things seem to have come to a halt (and by feel it I don't mean contractions or anything like that, I mean I can feel it in my pants that are too tight - the 3 pairs that I can still fit into - and the fact that I am moving around like a big lug).

Since my last post - the one where I said the word "dilate" - there has been no change in my progress. Still dilated...about a centimeter...2 weeks later...no change. The doctor told us this week that if Griffin has not come on his own before February 10th, they will go ahead and induce labor. So, at least there is a light at the end of the tunnel - an end in sight. Though I'd rather Griffin just come on his own...when he's ready (as long as it's before the 10th, because I'm all about kicking him out of the womb if he hasn't come yet!)

I realize that I should probably just stop being so anxious and enjoy these last few days/weeks before Griffin is here. I'm just so excited to meet him though! Not to mention that my level of physical discomfort is increasing by the day... Chad seems fine with Griffin taking his sweet time. I think the closer we actually get the more nervous Chad is getting (and If I'm being honest with myself, I'm right there with him). Plus, he's got a few things going on a work that he hopes he will be able to cross off his list so he can feel good about being gone once the little babe is here!

In the meantime, I'll just have to settle for a slow down...

I'll just wait in my new glider that my parents got me for my birthday...

Your room is ready and waiting Griffin...

More photos of the completed nursery to come....stay tuned!

Big and Slow

...that has become my standard response when people ask me how I'm feeling...BIG and SLOW. I didn't realize quite HOW big until I looked at this picture of myself. That's me today. My 28th birthday, starting my 38th week of pregnancy. Woah! (And yes, those are sweat pants. Pretty much a wardrobe staple these days.)

So, we're getting pretty close to the big day. Only 22 days until my due date! Technically, I'm full term now, so Griffin could come at any minute and be considered a big, healthy boy! (hopefully).

We went to the doctor for an appointment yesterday and she said that I have already started dilating...less than 1 centimeter...but dilating non the less! Pretty exciting. We'll go back every week now until I deliver to check on the progress.

I'll keep y'all posted!!

Griffin's Award-Winning Dad

Griffin, you're one lucky kid. Your dad is an award winner! Chad got 3rd place at the "Ugly Sweater" Christmas party we went to this holiday season. Chad's outfit (compliments of Good Will) was so good, I just had to share.

Couples Shower

We were lucky enough to have another shower...this one involving the guys. Most of these guys are Chad's friends from college, and they are such a great group of people. And, lucky for me, they have great taste in "significant others" and have all become great friends that we love hanging out with. It's our "Tech crew" and they're wonderful!

Here are a bunch of pictures...

The hostesses - we were told to take a "crazy" picture. What can I say...we're crazy!

Many thanks to the Robinsons, Sineways and Cowarts for throwing the shower for us. You guys are such great friends and it was a perfect evening! Griffin can't wait to meet you all and hang out at next year's tailgates.
